I just had a very good meeting with CW, who approved some final design
decisions and helped with textual questions. He also gave me final words
on how to relate the Music Library exhibition to the Houghton
exhibition. I will take care of bringing those texts together and having
the catalog designer incorporate the materials appropriately.
The one issue that remains is a headnote or contextual essay (300-400
words) for the Music Library entries. I notice that several students
worked on the labels for the Music Library installation. Will it be
possible for one or more of them to get a brief essay to us by Sunday? I
have labels for four entries. Is this the extent of the Music Library
exhibition? The materials are rather miscellaneous, and a good brief case

and explaining that this is a course project?
--Editing points:
1. consistency of bibliographic entries, esp for publishers in
printed books and descriptions of the number of leaves for manuscript
items.
2. form of headings for authors (dates in parens or brackets,
periods at end of entries, etc).
3. form of authors' names
--We need the canon solution.
--Bibliographic citation of p. 10?
--Do we have all the private items from CW?
--How do we want to present the Map entries? They are without an intro
paragraph.
--What is the relation of the catalog to the materials shown in the Music
Library? We have some label entries, but they do not present the same
sort of clearly defined presentation that the Htn cases do.
Many thanks. I will be in Htn until late tonight and then most of the day
on Saturday and Sunday.
